With 3:46 left in the game and the score tied Robert Evans broke free for a 42 yard touchdown and then added the two point conversion to give the Rebels the lead and eventual victory.

The Rebels took the opening kickoff inside the 10 yard line before throwing an interception that was returned 99 yards for a touchdown by Peyton Lee for a 6-0 River View lead.

One play after the Raider touchdown Evans took a handoff and went 67 yards for a touchdown and it was all tied of at 6 apiece.

Halfway through the second quarter Evans gave the Rebels the 12-6 lead with a 48 yard touchdown.

Before the two teams came out of halftime lightning hit and the game didn’t restart until 8:50.

In the second half Raider QB Jeremiah Delong scored from 10 yards out but the two point conversion was no good and the score was all knotted up at 12 all.

Robert Evans had 240 yards rushing and senior Dylan Stroud had a team leading 10 tackles.

With the victory the Rebels will be the #16 seed in the Class A playoffs and will play #1 seed Wheeling Central ( 6-2 ) on Saturday afternoon at Wheeling University with kickoff set for 1:00.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… So proud of our kids for the effort in a tough year for them. The seniors have showed a ton of heart all season long with everything that has went down. All seven of them hold a special place in my heart. My son Dylan and Dakota Blackburn have been with me since they started playing, Landon Spence has really come into his own this season, Devin Honeycutt came to us late but has been a pleasant surprise, the two twins have been so steady for us, and Hunter Ramey had back to back season ending injuries which is brutal for him and us.”

“…We knew it was going to be a tough game to play in with the conditions and we told them the team that limits turnovers would win the game. And we did just enough to give us a chance to win and another chance to play next week.”
