Fort Gay, W.Va. — Going into his third year at the helm of the Tolsia football program David Thompson is as excited about this upcoming season as a kid on Christmas morning.
The Rebels look to improve on a 4-6 record last season and get back into the playoff picture with a ton of experience back on both sides of the football along with a good sized sophomore and freshman classes.
Tolsia has over 40 players in camp as of practice late last week, led by Sophomore Robert Evans, Seniors Bray Mollette, Braxton McCoy and Luke Williamson, Juniors Dakota Blackburn, John and Jesse Jarrell, along with Dylan Stroud who is cleared after missing all of last season. Junior Hunter Ramey and Sophomores Danny Ray Ferguson and Chase Napier will be back to anchor the line, Freshmen Kyndul Kincaid, Braxton Jones and Trevor Copley could see some early playing time.
The Coaching staff will consist of David Thompson, Steve Stroud, Jeremy Lemaster, Bob Evans, Beebo Thompson, Jennings Holland and Justin Perry.
Tolsia traveled to Ohio to face Lucasville Valley for their only scrimmage of the preseason last Friday night and played pretty good by all accounts.
The Rebels will open the season at home against County rival Wayne on Friday August 30th.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“… I think we have a huge opportunity this season to make push for the playoffs and beyond. We let a few games slip away last year and seemed like the little things cost us in our losses. Really happy with what I have seen so far in camp. We have over 40 players out right now and everybody seems to be excited to be back on the football field.”
“… We have some guys back that had really good years last season and a bunch of kids were in the weight room during the off-season and that should help us a ton. My coaching staff is top notch and I think it got even better with a couple of additions this year.”
“… We only have one scrimmage so hopefully we can work on some stuff and stay healthy at the same time. I think we have more depth this season unlike the last two years. Open up with Wayne which should be a good one with a huge crowd right here at home.”
