COACH’S COMMENTS
“… Friday we played really well on defense we held there second leading scorer to only 3 points. We controlled the boards CJ Johnson had 18 rebounds which let us get out and push the ball and control the tempo. Parker Watts finished with 28 including 6 three pointers. We played without senior Dylan Dawson which allowed a few other kids to step up.”
“… Saturday’s game against Westside who’s has a really nice team was tough. They start a 6’8 center a 6’6 forward and another 6’4 forward, which hindered us on the boards. They threw over the top of our half court press really and we couldn’t get nothing started on offense and went 5 of 34 from 3 point range. As you know we have no true big post player but we try and make the most with Dylan Dawson and CJ Johnson who split roles playing post and guard for us but those 2 will battle in the paint for me day in and day out. But we were just outmanned. We didn’t get many turnovers and didn’t control the boards and we struggled to score in our half court offense.”
“… We got a week off now and maybe we can regroup and get back to working on little things. The team is going to rally behind Fort Gay Middle this week and try to take in a game or two. Don’t want them to think we forgot about them, but with this Covid stuff it’s really hard to get a free date to go watch. We usually play Tuesday and fridays. This year we play any day of the week which makes it rough. Hopefully we can get out watch them this week.”
