FORT GAY, W. VA. — It has been a tough start to the season for the Tolsia baseball team but Head Coach Jeff Wallace says the schedule early on will get his team prepared for postseason play.
2019 Tolsia Baseball Team
The Rebels play in the deepest section in Class A with perennial top ten teams in Huntington St. Joe and Buffalo along with Sherman who might have the best pitcher in Single A.
Tolsia is 1-7 after dropping back to back games to Buffalo and rival Wayne after leading the Pioneers 4-0 in the fifth inning on Thursday.
2019 Tolsia Seniors
Seniors Eric Williams, Austin Bailey and Billy Perry lead a good group of players with a ton of experience.
Juniors Cole Perry and Carson Stuart will contribute as well.
Sophomores Dustin Bailey, Nick Blackburn and Twins John and Josh Wilson all have been pleasant surprises so far.
The Rebels have played Huntington, East Carter, Buffalo, Wayne, Man and Mingo Central so far.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“… Schedule hasn’t been kind to us so far but we knew that going in. We have challenged our kids and the younger ones have responded along with Eric Williams who is so steady. I can’t say enough about him. He comes ready to play every day. We should have beaten Man and Mingo Central but made some mistakes late in both ball games.”
“… We have battled some injuries to key players but I’m really proud of our younger guys for battling. The Twins John and Josh Wilson have really hit the ball well with a bunch of quality at bats so far. I keep telling our kids it’s just March and we are preparing them for May. Our Section is brutal but playing the likes of Huntington and Man along with some others will get us ready.”
