I applied for 6 different institutional aids position s at the LWES and I did not receive one call for an interview. I had been an instructional aid years ago at the LEES. I was told by some friends that I would not be hired because of my age. I am 67 years old. I have 2 children, one 4 year old at the LWES and a 9 year old at the LEES. So needless to say I would be there for years. The other reason they said I wouldn’t be hired and (this is from a former employee) is because I had a teaching position at the high school in the Nursing Science class and I resigned the position because I was not informed of what I would be teaching. I thought I was teaching them how to become a CNA. I didn’t know I had to teach Math, Anatomy and other subjects. The principal just said, here are your keys. Also the students were horrible and flat out told me they were not going to do what I told them to. It’s hard to teach without books. Also the senior class went to the principal because I was going to give a test. The principal’s reply was, don’t worry about it, it’s her last day anyway. The principal should not have said that. She should have had my back. The former teacher told me I was probably “ Black Balled” from ever getting a job in the school system. I wasn’t even given an interview for any of these positions.
The school system is only worried about the money they get from the parents not the children…I know how you feel…
