Stephen Douglas Gay (Steve), 79, of Lexington, Kentucky passed away on September 1, 2021 after a long battle from cancer.
Steve was born on August 11, 1942 in Hinton, WV to the late Thelma Tyler Newton (George) and Charles Siebert Gay. From Hinton, WV to Louisa, KY and Lexington, Steve made lifelong friends at each earthly post. He had a lifetime of sales experience, but his “work” passion was for Christ. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and a 32-year member of Southland Christian Church where he served in Guest Experience.
A devoted son, husband, father and friend, he is survived by his loving wife of 22 years Linda S. Gay; children Stephen (Craig Logan) Gay, Monica (Russ) Townley, and Erica (Aubrey) Pitts; grandchildren Scott (Rachael) Colvin, Brian Colvin, Cameron Pitts and Lakin Pitts; great grandchild Fallon Colvin.
Friends may visit the family on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm and service will begin at 6:00pm at Southland Christian Church Building A in Nicholasville, Ky.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Steve’s memory to Bluegrass Care Navigators or Southland Christian Church.
I am so sorry to hear of my classmate’s passing. He was special and a friend in high school. We shall pray for his family as they grieve his loss.
For years Steve was a light that shined for many of his friends and loved ones. Not only an inspiration but also an example of how to love and care for others as Christ called us to do. Steve was at his best when he served.
Prayers to Linda, family and friends. 🙏
Was my employer and most of all a good friend. Will miss him a lot but will see him again someday.
