PRESTONSBURG, Ky. – Dr. Devin Stephenson, president of Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC), released the following statement on the passing of Professor Dr. Bill Loftus:
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of Dr. Bill Loftus. For more than 25 years, Dr. Loftus impacted lives through a passion for teaching and an unwavering commitment towards his students. Dr. Loftus followed the principles of servant leadership and was influential in many projects at the college, including serving as advisor of our Phi Theta Kappa chapter for many years; sponsoring a soup kitchen for students; and working in the college’s community garden. Last month, Dr. Loftus was informed of his selection as the 2016 Advisor Emeritus for the Phi Theta Kappa Foundation. His impact on higher education and community service has been integral to building young citizens for decades, and his legacy of servant leadership will continue through the many lives he touched. My wife, Judy, and I, along with the faculty, staff and students of Big Sandy Community and Technical College, send our heartfelt condolences to Dr. Loftus’ wife, Teresa, and their family.”
