Louisa, Ky. — After leading his Bulldogs to the Final Four, Lawrence County Head Coach Sam Sparks was named NFHS State Softball Coach of the year this past week.

LC softball coach Sam Sparks

Sparks in his first season with the Bulldogs led his team to a 26-8 record, a 58th District title, a 15th Region championship and two wins in the state tournament before falling to eventual state champion Assumption in the final four.

Lawrence County lost some key contributors from last season but should be right on the hunt for a third straight region championship in 2026.
