SOFTBALL DAWGS HOST 58TH DISTRICT TOURNAMENT STARTING TONIGHT

STANVILLE, KY. — Lawrence Co. Softball ( 25-4 ) ended the regular season with a 20-0 three inning victory over Betsy Layne ( 7-12 ) on Thursday evening.

Taylor Blevins and Elle Smith combined to throw a no-hitter and were one walk away from a perfect game against the Bobcats. 

Bree Jones had 4 hits from her leadoff spot versus Betsy Layne. 

Bree Jones had four hits, three runs batted in and scored three times. Dani Crum had two hits including a double, drove in four runs and scored once.

Addalyn Woods had two hits, one RBI and scored three runs, Brooklyn Ellis homered, drove in two runs and scored once, Jada Patton doubled, had one RBI and scored a run, Abby Nelson doubled and scored twice, Braylee Triplett doubled, drove in two runs and scored once.

Abby Maynard singled, drove in two runs and scored twice, Zoe Bartley singled, drove in two and scored once, Hallie Adkins singled, scored and run and drove in one, Jaylee Maxie singled and scored a run, Baleigh Blackburn and Smith scored a run. 

Boyd Co. 10 Lawrence Co. 5 ( Monday ) 

Abby Nelson belted two home runs but it wasn’t enough to overcome a six run second inning by the Lions. 

Taylor Blevins singled twice, Jada Patton doubled and scored a run. Abby Maynard singled and drove in a run, Dani Crum and Addalyn Woods singled and scored a run, Brooklyn Ellis, Hallie Adkins and Elle Smith singled, Bree Jones had one RBI and Braylee Triplett scored a run. 

Ellis suffered the loss in the circle for the Bulldogs. 

Mercer Co. 6 Lawrence Co. 3 ( Saturday ) 

Dani Crum had two hits including a triple, drove in two runs and scored a run, Jada Patton had two hits including a triple and drove in one run, Abby Maynard doubled and scored a run, Bree Jones singled and scored a run, Brooklyn Ellis singled. 

Taylor Blevins was saddled with the loss for the Dawgs. 

Perry Co. Central 10 Lawrence Co. 8 ( Saturday ) 

Lawrence Co. led 5-1 before Perry Co. Central erupted for seven runs in the second inning and held on for the win. 

Brooklyn Ellis takes a pitch high in a recent game. Ellis leads the Dawgs with 7 home runs heading into postseason play. 

Brooklyn Ellis homered twice, drove in five runs and scored twice.

Dani Crum had four hits including two doubles and a triple, two runs batted in and three runs scored.

Jada Patton doubled, scored once and had one RBI, Jaylee Maxie singled and scored a run, Abby Nelson singled and Abby Maynard a run. 

Ellis was the losing pitcher in the circle for Lawrence Co. 

The 58th District Softball Tournament will be held at Lawrence Co. High school and begin on Monday May 20th with #1 seed Lawrence Co. ( 25-4 ) versus #4 seed Betsy Layne ( 7-12 ) at 5:30 and #2 seed Floyd Central ( 13-10 ) versus #3 Prestonsburg ( 6-15 ) at 7:30. 

Championship game is scheduled for Tuesday May 21st at 7:00.

“… We’re looking forward to the 58th District tournament. Hopefully, we stay healthy and hit our stride as the postseason going.”

“… We will have Senior night on Monday before the District opener and we are excited to celebrate these 3 seniors.”
