St. Paul, MN. — Former Lawrence Co. Bulldog Star Chandler Shepherd got his first Triple A start of the season for the Saints and pitched well over 4.0 innings of work as St. Paul beat the Indianapolis Indians 3-2 at CHS Field in front of 3,094 fans.
Shepherd is on the top row far left wearing #39 for the Saints.
The two teams were tied at 2 when the rains halted play until Thursday afternoon and the Saints got a walk-off RBI single from Jimmy Kerrigan in the bottom of the ninth inning to improve to 6-9 on the young season.
The lone blip on Shepherd’s ledger came in the second when TJ Rivera doubled with two outs and Joe Hudson followed with an RBI single giving the Indians a 1-0 lead. Shepherd went 4.0 innings allowing one run on four hits while walking two and striking out six.
The Saints will be playing in Louisville for a six game serious beginning on Tuesday June 1st until June 6th and then in Columbus on June 22nd until June 27th. That will be the closest Shepherd gets to Louisa.
