Repairs for KY 2032 and KY 40 in next phase

*****

Floyd/Johnson Line Lane closures and delays expected beginning Monday

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (June 6, 2025) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 12 announces the completion of drilling work on KY 292 at mile point 15.32 in Martin County. This marks the end of a scheduled daytime closure that began earlier this week. While the drilling phase is now complete, motorists should expect continued delays at this location as the cribbing crew remains on-site to backfill the area and finalize repairs.

Crews have made strong progress, and the contractor’s drill crew is now set to move to KY 2032 at mile point 4.17. To complete this phase of the project safely and efficiently, a daytime closure will be required Monday, June 9, weather permitting. This is a short site, and work is expected to be completed by early afternoon the same day.

Following completion on KY 2032, the contractor will move to KY 40 at mile point 15.32. This location will not require a road closure, but motorists should anticipate extended wait times over the course of several days as crews work to stabilize the roadway.

We appreciate the public’s continued patience as these critical slope and roadway repairs are completed. These infrastructure improvements are part of our ongoing commitment to keeping roads safe and reliable throughout Martin County and the region.

Please drive with caution in all work zones.

Paving Projects Scheduled for KY 3 and KY 321 near Floyd/Johnson Line

Lane closures and delays expected beginning Monday

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (June 6, 2025) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 12 advises motorists of two upcoming paving projects in Floyd County that will be completed concurrently to minimize public disruption and maximize efficiency. Together, the projects span more than 8 miles of state highways.

Paving will take place on:

  • KY 3, from mile point 0.954 (end of Bay’s Branch bridge) to mile point 4.585 (Johnson County line)
  • KY 321, from mile point 0.000 (intersection with KY 1428 near Hardee’s and the Prestonsburg High School football field) to mile point 5.07 (Johnson County line)

Although these are separate contracts, the work will appear as a single project to the public due to the back-to-back timing and close proximity of the two roadways

What to Expect:

  • Traffic control signage is scheduled to be installed later this week, likely by Thursday.
  • Milling on the 4-lane section of KY 3 is expected to begin Monday, June 10, with paving to follow.
  • Work will occur primarily between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily.
  • Lane closures and extended wait times are expected. Flaggers will be present throughout the work zones to direct traffic safely.

Drivers should use caution, reduce speed, and be prepared for delays, especially during peak travel times.
