On Monday April 6, 2020, I spoke with Administrator of the Big Sandy Regional Jail Byron Hansford, he issued this statement.
” They had contacted the state and most of the Detention Centers have been releasing the non violent inmates, so this is what they have been doing.”
“We’re keeping new intakes isolated from the general population for a minimum of 14 days. If possible longer if there isn’t an urgency for those cells that we are keeping them in.”
Hansford said they have had help from the Johnson County Health Department with getting some PPE in and Emergency Management and have been scrounging up what they need themselves by ordering some items.
