Wheeling, W. Va. — The Tolsia Rebels’ season ended in the first round of the playoffs on the road against #1 Wheeling Central Catholic 51-8 Saturday afternoon at Wheeling University.

The only score for the Rebels came in the fourth quarter when QB Caleb Thompson connected with John Jarrell for a 15 yard touchdown and Dylan Stroud ran in the two point conversion.

Tolsia finished the year 3-8 but arguably played the toughest schedule in single A this year.

Thompson was 2-3 passing for 30 yards and a touchdown, Dakota Blackburn was 1 of 2 for 6 yards.

John Jarrell caught 2 passes for 30 yards and Landon Spence caught 1 pass for 6 yards.

Elijah Ekers was the Rebels leading rusher with 30 yards on 3 carries, Robert Evans had 19 yards on 7 attempts, John Jarrell 2 carries for 15 yards, Dylan Stroud 5 carries for 11 yards, Dakota Blackburn 3 carries for 7 yards and Peyton Rice 5 carries for 5 yards.

Stroud was the leading tackler with 8, Evans and Ekers had 7 each, Greyson Golden 6 tackles and 3 pass break ups, John Jarrell 5 tackles, Chase Thompson 4 tackles and a QB sack, Kyndul Kincaid and Caleb Thompson 4 tackles each, Landon Spence and Peyton Rice 3 tackles each, Jesse Jarrell, Danny Ray Ferguson, Will Goble, Chase Napier, Dalton Davis and Bradyn Weaver had 2 tackles each.

Tolsia loses seven seniors but returns a very good nucleus and with the right schedule will be right back in the hunt for a home playoff game next year.

They lost a heartbreaker in week two against at Sissonville 20-19 and a 31-28 decision at Wirt Co. in week 10 when the Tigers scored with 36 seconds on the clock.

Interim head coach Steve Stroud stepped in after the first game when David Thompson resigned.
