CLINTON WAYNE JUSTICE, 68, OF PIKEVILLE, KENTUCKY; WAS ARRESTED ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT, JUNE 12, BY STATE POLICE AFTER HE FLED WHEN WHILE DRIVING INTOXICATED IN HIS VEHICLE AND HITTING A MAN ON HIS BICYCLE WHICH KILLED THE CYCLIST.

A Pike County, Kentucky man was arrested Wednesday evening after while driving he hit a man on a bike with his vehicle and then left the scene of the accident, according to the Kentucky State Police Post 9 in Pikeville, KY.

The collision occurred on U.S. 460 in the Millard community of Pike County around 9:50 P.M. on Wednesday, June 12.

The victim who was riding on the bicycle, identified as Eric Justice  was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Pike County Coroner Office.

After the collision, the suspect took off from the scene, but was located a short time later, according to KSP Post 9, after a witness was able to get the vehicle’s license plate number, and the KSP traced it to a 2013 Ford Edge owned by Clinton Wayne Justice, 68, of Chloe Road, of Pikeville, KY.

Troopers determined Clinton Justice was operating the 2013 Ford Edge when his vehicle hit Eric Justice while he was riding his bicycle.

When state police troopers found Clinton Justice at his home around 11:00 P.M., the arrest report stated Clinton Justice was moving and speaking slowly, had drooping eyelids, and had difficulty understanding or following simple instructions.

He was arrested and taken to the hospital for a blood test, when he told police he wanted to contact an attorney. The police report notes he called his girlfriend instead and spoke with her for 17 minutes. When he was told his time was up, he told police he would not consent to a blood test, so they got a search warrant for the test instead.

Clinton Justice was arrested by trooper Nicholas Taylor on the charges of:

  • LEAVING SCENE OF ACCIDENT/FAIL TO RENDER AID/ASSIST WITH/DEATH OR SERIOUS PHYSICAL INJURY,
  • VEHICULAR HOMICIDE WHEN UNDER THE INFLUENCE DRUGS/SUBSTANCE,
  • OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER THE INFLUENCE – 1ST OFFENSE.

Clinton Justice was transported to and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center in Pikeville, where he is being held on a two-hundred fifty thousand ($250,000) full cash only bond.
