Peggy Jo (Shannon) Parker passed away Thursday morning September 30, 2021 at the age of 82. She was born in Louisa, Kentucky to William and Elizabeth Shannon on June 19, 1939. Peggy was preceded in death by daughter Cynthia Denise, father William “Tom” G. Shannon, mother Elizabeth “Lizzie” Shannon, and brother William (Ralph) Shannon.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years James Parker; daughters Marcella Drummond and Jammie Helm; son in law Michael Helm; adopted son James Kovaleski; granddaughters Sarah (Richie) Miller, Randilyn (Eamon) Papania, Kaeleigh Jo McLennan; grandson Parker Barnett; great grandchildren Austin, Makenzie and Emery; brothers Lowell (Betty) Shannon, Doug (Chandoha) Shannon, Ulysses Shannon; sister Rose Stuart; sisters in law Carolyn Mobley and Barbara Norman; brother in law Tommy (Alfreda) Parker and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A special mention of close family friends Joanne Perry, Latonya Guy, Billie Persinger, Donnie Bayless and Paul Bixler.
Peggy was the proud owner of a restaurant called Peggy’s on Xenia Avenue. She also worked at the McCall Corporation and The Old Colony Envelope Company. Peggy was outgoing, friendly, never knew a stranger and enjoyed walking, talking, traveling, gardening and spending time with her family who meant everything to her and her friends. She loved her squirrels, which were her babies. She was loved by all who knew her.
Due to Covid-19 the family is requesting everyone wear masks, social distance and please no physical contact with the family. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Peggy to Hospice of Dayton or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Shannon Family Cemetery.
