Patton’s late ‘put back’ secures Senior Night victory for Lady Bulldogs

Louisa, Ky. — Freshman Jada Patton put back a missed shot with 1.5 seconds left to lift Lawrence Co. ( 11-12 ) to a 45-44 victory over Paintsville ( 9-17 ) on Senior night Tuesday.

#5 Abby Maynard,#3 Sophie Adkins, #2 Addison Bloomfield 

Sophie Adkins and Jada Patton had 19 points each to lead the Lady Dawgs, Emalynn Kitts chipped in with 5 points and Addison Bloomfield rounded out the scoring with 2 points. 

Lawrence Co. hit 1 three pointer and went 13 of 21 from the free throw line. 

Paintsville was led by Kylie Kinner with 23 points, Annabelle Blankenship had 6 points, Emma Keeton 4 points, Addison Helton, Eliza Howard and McKinley Ramey had 3 points each. 

The Tigers hit 4 three pointers and went 12 of 16 from the charity stripe.

The Bulldogs will close out the regular season with a home game against Raceland ( 18-10 ) on Thursday night weather permitting.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… We are celebrating three amazing young ladies who have meant so much to our program. These three Seniors have won, as of today, 125 games in their six years as Lady Bulldog. They have helped win four district championships.

“… As 8th graders they were in the semifinals of the regional tournament and

“…their freshman year they were regional runner up.

“…As sophomores they helped our team win a 15th region championship and compete at Rupp Arena.

“…They have helped our team win a 2A section 8 championship and to compete in the 2A state tournament. They have also helped our team win the Carolina Invitational tournament.” 

“… The mark these seniors have left on and off the court will not soon be forgotten.”
