SEPTEMBER 27, 2018
LOUISA, KY. — Lawrence County Fiscal Court members will be voting on the 2018 property tax rates at a special meeting tomorrow (Friday) thanks to an executive order by Judge/Executive John Osborne this morning.
This will be the second special meeting for the court this week and this one starts at 1:30pm instead of the usual 10:00 am meeting time.
According to Kentucky Law the court has several choices in setting a taxing rate for the citizens of Lawrence County.
They could:
1. Leave the tax rate as it is,
2, Adopt the “compensating rate” which is based on expenditures from the previous year and the amount of taxes it will take to meet those expenses. The rate could go up or down but would almost certainly go up in Lawrence County.
3. They could raise the tax rate by up to 4% more than last year.
Please don’t raise them any more.its getting till you can’t afford to live in Lawrence co!
