At its November regular meeting the Lawrence County Fiscal Court voted unanimously to award a certificate of accomplishment to Lisa Nelson for being the first female to pass the Kentucky State Police academy and become a state trooper from Lawrence County. She is now on duty in the Post 14 area which includes Lawrence County. Lisa was not able to attend the meeting so we reached out to post 14 for an official photo.
Many thanks to KSP Post 14 public information officer Bobby King for the sharp photo!
Congratulations to officer Nelson, proud you are from Lawrence county I know you will make us proud.
Has KSP changed their uniform color? I think, when I left KY they were solid grey, with no darker pockets, shoulder (whatever they are called). I also remember the shirt and pants were the same shade of grey. The State Trooper on the cars was reflective blue, not flat black? The new uniforms look like they did in the 50s. Just curious.
Perhaps the editor could answer this?
Editor — This is the official photo sent to us by Post 14. I have no idea about how they looked in years past but this is a brand new trooper in a brand new uniform.
Yes I’m aware that’s a “brand new” trooper. I was a KY peace officer for 16 years, and the uniforms for the KSP have changed, and are very much like the ones of the 50s. In the 90s I gave law enforcement up. I just figured the editor would know the answer to my question (as to when they changed). Thanks anyway.
That’s the winter uniform in the photo. The summer uniform pants are the same shade as the shirt.
Thank you.
probably riding horses when you left
No, but my friends did call me horse.
no doubt your closest male friends did
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The photo has been slightly edited. I was not the photographer, it was sent to me as is by a third party. The uniform is our winter uniform, the pants are wool and are a darker shade of gray. Our summer uniforms are matching in color as far as pants are concerned. It has been this way for many decades and there have been only very minor changes since 1948. Trooper Nelson wears the uniform well and has been a great addition to Post 14. Hope this is helpful Charles.
Thank you Trooper.
As the years pass, one tends to remember things that may or may not have been.
I can not believe that the color of the uniform and the car was even brought up as if it is an issue. The article is a congratulatory piece to the officer and her accomplishment. I would think that a former “peace officer” would be a little more respectful. It is probably a good thing he is no longer in law enforcement. He sounds like he was the type of officer that gives the rest of them a bad reputation. Congrats to the new KSP officer on her accomplishments!
Clearly, Trooper Nelson has worked hard and deserves her position with the KSP. Charles takes issue with anything and everything posted on here, such as the lettering on the car appearing to be flat black. If he were as intelligent as he claims to be, he would see that there is a filter on this photo that only shows color on the central part of the photo, leaving the rest of the pic in black and white.
Citizen, would you care to KMA?
In a free nation I have a right to ask a question, even if it don’t meet your satisfaction! I respect the KSP, and was a fine law officer Loretta, what you think of me, means nothing, are we clear?
Ooooo…Are we clear Loretta? Sounds like he’s threatening you. Lol. I guess now we can tell what kind of officer he was…..if he really was.
Citizen you are a sanctimonious old bible thumper, who thinks people who don’t agree with ‘his version’ of Christianity are wrong. You also think your opinions outweigh everyone else’s. Your kind turn people away from Jesus.
I just said that because, it fits you Citizen. I did not threaten that lady in any way, nor would I. I was a fair and honest cop, but when necessary I have loaded 8 men in my patrol car by myself. I also guarded my school zones like a hawk, walked many 1st grader across the street, often visited my older ladies to let them know they are safe. (often rewarded with coffee and a piece of pie). Not ashamed of my record! Are we clear on that?
So, now you’re threatening me and attacking my personal faith? I made no mention whatsoever of Christianity or anything relating to. To be honest, I have never forced my faith or beliefs upon anyone. You, however, seem to be a keyboard warrior, always asserting yourself on others and becoming angry and upset when they disagree or question your comments. My “version” of Christianity is my own and you have no right to even bring it up. You don’t know what fits me. You have no idea who I am or what kind of person I might be. Never bring up my personal faith. Are we clear on that? SIR, YES SIR!!!
I just call them as I see them Citizen! No, not on this you didn’t reference Jesus Christ, but you have on many others. You must be crazy to say “I threatened you”? Are you insane? As far as angry, are you talking about yourself? I’ve put up with enough abuse from you! Clear on that? I will say what I want about my opinion of you, which is poor! Clear on that? Others are sick of you, I will tell you to your face. I will talk on any subject I please, view an opinion of any subject I wish, and give not one damn what you think about it! Clear on that?
Your threats do not scare me in the least. You are a sad person. I am clear on that.
Yea sure.
Trooper Nelson I wish you a grand career, perhaps I should have mentioned that back a few posts. 🙂
Proud of Trooper Nelson…. again Charles has nothing better to do but argue with people who have a different opinion than him on ANY subject. He resigns to calling names and hurling opinions about people that he knows nothing about…. People who can’t back up their views with facts, use name calling and spouting insults instead….
I’m still waiting on an overview of your thesis? What about that fact.
