Fort Gay, W. Va. Tolsia’s Baseball season came to end after a 8-6 loss against Van on Wednesday at Rebel field in the Region 4 Section 1 tournament.

#7 Bray Mollette is greeted by his teammates after hitting an inside the park homer.

Bray Mollette went 3-3 with a double, a solo home run and an inside the park three run homer, four runs batted in and scored three times, Luke Williamson had two hits including a double and scored twice, Blake Stull had two hits and one RBI, Gage Dawson, Danny Ray Ferguson and Brody Caudill all singled and David Meddings scored a run.

Tolsia starter Jeremy Vanhoose looks plateward against Van.

Jeremy Vanhoose was the tough luck loser after tossing six innings, striking out four and walking two. Vanhoose also singled offensively. Peyton Muncy pitched one inning and allowed two hits, struck out three and gave up one run.

#30 Gage Dawson digs in against Van in post-season play.

The Rebels return some good talent next season along with a good middle school group from Crum and Fort Gay coming up.

Van will travel to Sherman on Friday night in an elimination game.

Tolsia Head Coach Robbie Conn

COACH’S COMMENTS

“…  We had a good group this year but just couldn’t get over the hump. We will have a great group of seniors next year with Luke Williamson, Bray Mollette, Gage Dawson Jeremy Vanhoose and Cam Perkins who we lost for the year because of an injury during basketball season.”

“… We made some mistakes that cost us big time. Couldn’t make a couple routine plays defensively and really didn’t take advantage of their pitching as much as we wanted.”

“… But we have a good group of freshmen coming up next year and we will be working over the summer and the fall in the weight room, field work and play some games. And I will have someone coming in to help with pitching and batting as well.”
