Louisa, Ky. — The Louisa Middle school Bulldogs got off to a slow start to the 2016/17 season but have really picked it up this week. The 7th ( 2-5 ) and 8th ( 3-4 ) Grade teams have both won two in a row heading into Christmas break. The 6th ( 2-5 ) Grade is coming along nicely behind the coaching of Darrell Hopson.

Louisa 60 Wurtland 12 ( 8th )
The Dawgs jumped all over the Wildcats from Greenup Co. on the road a coasted to the victory. Andrew Tackett poured in 18 points to lead the Dawgs, Trenton Adkins scored 10 points, Joe Schmidt tallied 9 points, Baden Gillispie and Kyle Davis had 8 each, Brock Kessinger hit a three pointer, Trey Brumfield and Danny Hall chipped in with 2 points each.
Louisa 53 Wurtland 33 ( 7th )
The Dawgs pulled away for the lopsided victory to pick up the win. Brody Diamond had 13 points to lead the Dawgs, Bryce Blevins tallied 12 points, Mason Preston had 10 points, Trenton Adkins 9 points, Adam Scaggs 7 points, Parker Preece chipped in with 2 points.
Wurtland 33 Louisa 31 ( 6th )
Wurtland came from behind to win a close one over the Dawgs in a good ballgame. Lawson Baisden poured in 20 points to pace the Dawgs, Ford Scaggs tallied 7 points, Dylan Ferguson and Jake Derifield both had 2 points.
Louisa 43 McKell 34 ( 8th )
The Dawgs picked up a home victory before going on Christmas break over the Bulldogs. Trenton Adkins lead a balanced scoring attack for LMS with 11 points, Baden Gillispie tallied 10 points, Andrew Tackett scored 8 points, Birthday boy Joe Schmidt and Danny Hall had 6 points each, Bryce Blevins had 2 points.
Louisa 41 McKell 14 ( 7th )
The Dawgs got off to a hot start and cruised to the home victory. Bryce Blevins had 12 points to lead the Dawgs, Trenton Adkins tallied 8 points, Parker Preece and Mason Preston had 6 each, Adam Scaggs had 5 points, Brody Diamond had 4 points.
McKell 38 Louisa 9 ( 6th )
The Dawgs fell behind early to a good McKell team at home. Ford Scaggs had 5 points and Lawson Baisden chipped in with 4 points.
Louisa is off until the new year when they travel to Fairview on January 4th.

“… We got off to a slow start with so many new kids trying to adjust to new roles on the team but I think we are playing well together right now.” It has been a work in progress so far but I like where my team is.”
“We are halfway through are schedule and it has really flew by, all of the kids have been great so far.” Can’t wait for the second half to get going. The kids will get some time off to spend with the family and then we will get right back on it.”
