FLOOD Update 3/2/21 10:30 am –
STREETS- The corner of River Avenue and Sullivan St is closed to traffic due to a break in the street.
Lick Creek road is underwater. Roads down to Louisa Locks and Louisa Boat Ramp are CLOSED to traffic.
All other city streets are open.
WATER- Employee’s dealing with minor flooding to basement of the water plant but all water services online. BOIL WATER ADViSORY for Fallsburg Area customers served by Five Forks Tank until further notice.
SANITATION- Trash service will be on regular schedule.
SEWER- Some service buildings at the treatment plant is flooded. Some pump stations have been affected by the 4+ inches of rainfall.
BIG SANDY RIVER – Was at 43.15 ft at 9:30 am this morning. Expected to crest approx 3pm today at between 44-45′. Many areas will be affected by river flooding thats hasn’t happened since 77.
WARNINGS- avoid entering flood waters by foot or vehicles. Allow waters to recede before attempting cleanup.
What about the river walk? Can you see that is a total waste of taxpayer money? Doesn’t matter where you get the money or what it is called , it’s still taxpayer money. If it was in place now who would clean it up? No matter who it would be with taxpayer money. Find something else to spend money on that will still benefit the citizens.
