SUMMARY
- Mayor Harold Slone updated council on various projects going on throughout the city. In particular the I and I project in the Lock Ave. section of town. Progress is continuing on schedule.
- Obtained a motion to approve minutes from Oct 2020 meeting. Approved unanimous.
- Approved accepting easement of street from Lawrence County located around Heritage Equipment located at 23/32 intersection.
- Approved giving easement to Foothills Communications to set poles on city property over by the water plant as they expand fiberoptic into Meadowbrook and Levisa Drive area of the city. Motion carried unanimous. City attorney to prepare easement documents with meets and bounds. Council approved mayor to sign.
- Council approved Covid response severance pay package for employees that worked though the pandemic. Monies would be paid through Cares Act funding. Amount would be one time $300 dollars per employee with Mc and SS taxes deducted from that. Approved unanimously. The mayor commended his employees for staying at work and taking precautions rather than opting to miss work for unemployment opportunities.
- Council approved a change to LPD compensation package to include a longevity bonus for police officers who stay with the city for 4 yrs. Officers would receive a $100 pay increase at 4 years and each 4 year anniversary afterwards. The policy takes effect on Jan 1, 2021 and no back pay will be given.
The council members made some announcements concerning various fund raisers and toy/clothing drives going on over the next few weeks.
