INEZ, Ky. — Martin County Grand Jury met May 2 and issued 4 indictments. The Grand Jury having been empaneled on June 3, 2021 issued their final report for that scheduled term of services.
The Grand Jury stated that the panel heard testimony on 85 cases and stemming from those cases the Grand Jury returned 73 true bills, 16 no true bills and held 0 cases over the next seated Martin County Grand Jury panel on June 2, 2022.
Commonwealth vs. Benjamin Blackburn
The Grand Jury charges that on or before March 17, 2022 in Martin Co, Ky, the above named defendant:
1. Benjamin Blackburn committed the offense of bail jumping in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully having been released from custody by the court, with or without bail, upon condition that he/she will subsequently appear at a specified time and place in connection with a felony charge, he/she failed to appear at that time and place as ordered by the court, namely a Sentencing.
Commonwealth vs. Cory Marcum
The Grand Jury charges that on or before April 7, 2022 in Martin Co, Ky, the above named defendant:
1. Cory Marcum committed the offense of bail jumping in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully having been released from custody by the court, with or without bail, upon condition that he/she will subsequently appear at a specified time and place in connection with a felony charge, he/she failed to appear at that time and place as ordered by the court, namely a Change of Plea Hearing.

The Grand Jury charges that on or before April 21, 2022 in Martin Co, Ky, the above named defendant:
1. Rikki Spradlin committed the offense of bail jumping in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully having been released from custody by the court, with or without bail, upon condition that he/she will subsequently appear at a specified time and place in connection with a felony charge, he/she failed to appear at that time and place as ordered by the court, namely a Change of Plea Hearing.
Commonwealth vs. James Crabtree
The Grand Jury charges that on or before April 1, 2022 in Martin Co, Ky, the above named defendant:
1. James Crabtree committed the offense of assault in the first degree when he intentionally caused serious physical injury to Mr. David Collins of Lovely, Ky by means of a deadly instrument.
2. James Crabtree committed the offense of burglary in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully entering the dwelling house of Mr. David Collins of Lovely, Ky with the intent to commit a crime therein, while in the dwelling house or in the immediate flight there from was armed with a deadly weapon.
