A Magoffin County, Kentucky man is facing a recommended ten (10) year prison sentence, after pleading guilty to charges involving the sexual exploitation of children and animals.
Kent Simpkins, 43, of Salyersville, KY., pleaded guilty on Thursday, November 14, to one (1) count of distributing child porn of a victim under age twelve (12), five (5) counts of possessing child porn, and one (1) count of sexual crimes against an animal.
Kent Simpkins came under investigation by the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch after he was discovered uploading pornographic images of children on social media. Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman said police found pornographic videos of children and animals when the KSP special crime unit raided Kent Simpkin’s home back on February 13, 2024, including one video of Kent Simpkins having sex with the family dog. Kent Simpkins was indicted by a Magoffin County grand jury in early June 2024.
In exchange for his plea, prosecutors are recommending a ten (10) year state prison sentence and lifetime registration on the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry. Kent Simpkins will be formally sentenced in March 2025.
