Road contractor blamed for damage at Towne Square
The Louisa City Utility Board met for its regular meeting Tuesday October 18, 2016. Those in attendance were Mayor Harold Slone, Mitch Castle council member, Sam Lester board member, Jeff Kinzer board member, Steve Lycans board member and Eldred Adams city attorney.
The minutes of the meeting September 20, 2016 were approved with the correction of the date. Motion by Steve Lycan , second by Sam Lester, all members in agreement.
A special meeting was scheduled for November 3, 2016 for the Perfection Group to present its review and recommendations for a cost savings study.
The Board also reviewed and approved the request for qualifications for the Sanitary Sewer System Rehabilitation. The bidding will close at 4pm Tuesday November 15, 2016.
Slone told the group that six units at the Lawrence Square were damaged by a bad pressure regulator. A contractor for the road construction at route 32 coming off the road behind the Marathon station was found to have been the cause.
The city’s current position is that they have no liability and the clean up costs are the responsibility of the contractor.
A discussion of acquiring new software for the Louisa Water Co. was held. The mayor stated, “We are so behind with technology, this will give our customers the ability to pay on line, set up payments, pay by email, etc.” No action was taken.
The meeting then adjourned.
