On Thursday January 27, 2022 the Louisa Rotary Club had their weekly meeting. After the Pledge of Allegiance and The Four Way Test President Pat Hart introduced the Guest Speaker, Lindsey Case, and Joey Moore a student pilot.
Lindsey Case is a teacher at LCHS and also attending was one of her ACE students Joey Moore a Senior at LCHS. Ms. Case is (licensed pilot and can fly as long as she can see the ground. ) She mentioned several problems you have to know how to maneuver in order to keep an (airplane ) on time as scheduled. One of those would be 5G technology it causes the (altimeter to keep the plane from being inverted).
She also said Drones in airspace can affect the planes.
“They had a drone problem at Keeneland and there are Eagles trained to take out drones at the facility,” Ms. Case said.
She also mentioned an app called foreflight that’s free and it shows any planes taking off or landing at an airport you choose.
Joey Moore, Senior Class of 2022, was asked about the flight simulators at LCHS and he said overall LCHS was ahead of the curve in training and that the simulator was actually harder than truly flying.
Joey mentioned he has flown from Mt Sterling Airport to Tri-State Airport in Huntington WV and several places in Ohio. He plans to attend Marshall University in Huntington WV in the fall. There were also questions asked about the cost of a career in Airflight and Lindsey said there are grants to help with the cost, she said if you really want to be a pilot and have the determination, there are ways of making your dreams come true.
With the coal industry banished this was a different way of thinking-out of the box for a career. Remember One mile of runway can take you anywhere!
