Ashontae Ellis at Rotary

Join the City of Louisa on a “Journey to Bethlehem” this CHRISTmas Season

The Rotary Club of Louisa gathered on December 4th for a meeting filled with excitement, faith, and community spirit as President Chris Jobe shared the heartfelt story behind a brand-new holiday event coming to Lawrence County.

Jobe told members he had felt led by the Lord to bring an idea to life—one that would allow the people of Louisa to walk through the story of the birth of Jesus in a meaningful and memorable way. After feeling a persistent nudge to share this message with the community, he reached out to Ashontae Ellis for help turning the vision into reality.

Ellis laughed as she recounted her first reaction, saying she assumed this project was something they’d prepare for next year, maybe 2026. But with a strong team and plenty of community support, the project quickly took shape. “Everyone pulled together so beautifully,” she said, “and I’m thrilled we’re able to present it this year, in 2025.”

The event, titled Journey to Bethlehem, will take place on December 18th and will guide participants through seven stops at local churches and businesses throughout Louisa. The tour begins at Louisa First Baptist Church and concludes at Louisa City Park, with each stop portraying a different part of the Christmas story.

Local organizations, congregations, and volunteers have joined forces to bring this first-of-its-kind experience to life. It’s incredible seeing everyone pull together to create something that not only tells the story of the birth of Jesus, but also brings our community together in a season of hope.

The event is free to all, and while open to anyone—not just Lawrence County residents—attendees are encouraged to bring a canned food item to support God’s Food Pantry, helping local families throughout the year and especially during the holiday season.

To reserve a time slot, visitors can scan the QR code available on the Lawrence County Tourism Commission – Kentucky Facebook page.

With faith, fellowship, and a shared purpose, the City of Louisa is proud to welcome the community to walk through Bethlehem and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas together.
