LOUISA Rotary met for its weekly meeting on Thursday, June 22nd . After the opening prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and Four Way Test, the anniversary of members Tommy and Ellen Taylor was acknowledged, they have been married for 32 years, and Tommy stated, “The only thing I would have done differently is married her sooner.”
Judge John Osborne also announced that this coming weekend is “Free Dump” weekend and that takes place at the County garage.
Alivia Farris, was the speaker this week and announced that the upcoming Farm and Field Day would be held on June 23rd at the Lawrence County Extension Office, she was also there to talk about her new position at the Lawrence County Extension Office and upcoming events on their calendar.
Ms. Farris explained that one of her goals is to get the “youth of Lawrence County excited about learning new life skills.”
Just a few things coming up is the L.C. Farmer’s Market, they will have an early sale on June 24th but they won’t officially be open until July 6th.
They will have a Red, White and Wellness on July 6th and 7th, which is a Patriotic Nutrition and Cooking Day Camp for ages of 9-13 and free of charge.
She also explained how our community has welcomed her with open arms and she looks forward to working with everyone. She is excited to put her education to use by teaching classes on anything that can make life easier. She is open to any questions that anyone may have for her about their gardens or plants.
