Rotarian’s met on Thursday, October 4th for their weekly meeting. Upcoming events and fundraisers that are on their schedule are:
Speaker for the week was Rotarian and Louisa United Methodist Pastor Dan Smith with a message on how to make a good marriage a GREAT marriage. Smith states, “I am not a marriage or family counselor, I am a pastor who does counseling and I just brought food for thought my friends of Rotary. “
Pastor Smith spoke about his marriage and had a picture slide prepared for his presentation. One was a quote by Minnie Pearl, “Marriage is like a hot bath; once you get used to it, it’s not so hot! ”
Smith’s theory is that since a marriage is made of two living people, his or any marriage must be living, too. In his words, all living things are in a constant state of change from day to day, therefore his marriage needed to change for the better.
Smith also touched on the biggest reasons for failed marriages.
Is it In-laws? Money? Children? Work? Physical Intimacy? Time? The Internet? In fact, the top three marriage killers are money, sex, (physical intimacy) and communication. He said that any effort put into these 3 areas will pay off greatly with big results. Obviously we all know that a men and women are much different and so are our needs, but with work… “You can make marriage fun again! “
With no more news for the good of Rotary the meeting was adjourned for the week.
Amen! My wife left me this year after 19.5 years of living together, with our daughter, now 14. Money was not an issue, but lack of sex for years was. As the mutual attraction faded, issues became ever more everyday hassels, quarrels lived longer, until the „last fight“ when I, also, could and would do nothing more as far as far as healing efforts go.
