LOUISA ROTARY HEARS NEW POWER COMPANY PRESIDENT EXPLAIN VISION FOR LAWRENCE COUNTY

On Thursday March 24, 2022 the Louisa Rotary Club had a regular meeting at First Baptist Church from 12-1PM. After the Pledge of Allegiance, the Four Way Test and Rotary song, Pat Hart President of Rotary introduced Rotary member Vince Doty. Doty

David Swain, Central President of Liberty Utilities and Sandy Hennequin, Vice-President of Governmental Affairs.

introduced David Swain, Central President of Liberty Utilities and Sandy Hennequin, Vice-President of Governmental Affairs.

Swain spoke to the Rotary about Liberty Utilities closing the deal on purchasing the Ky Power Plant on US 23 as well as all Ky. Power’s agreements with the local and state governments which will be determined at a Public Service Commission hearing next Monday..

On a personal note, Swain said he was given the option of moving to New York or Eastern Kentucky by the company… he chose to live in Eastern Kentucky and now resides in Ashland, Kentucky.

Swain said Liberty Utilities is in the process of hiring 15 employees for Engineering and 100-125 employees to work at Liberty Kentucky Power Louisa plant.

There will also be jobs in accounting and finance and a call center to handle customer calls from Eastern Kentucky. Swain said there will be 2 help centers open that will provide customers with answers. Mr. Swain said he is an advocate for the customer and will make sure that Eastern Kentucky gets the Federal Funds they deserve.

Sandy Hennequin explained that employees will receive Liberty days – 3 days off a year for employee to help with community service! That would total about 500 Liberty employees that share in community service. They often build handicapped ramps for customers and cover projects and events in local conmmunities

###

Rotary President, Pat Hart, reminded Rotary members they have 35 tickets to sell for fundraiser of “Steel Magnolia” at The Garden Theater on Friday April 29, 2022 at 6:30PM. $30 each or $55 for two. All proceeds from this dinner show have been donated to the club by Tim Robinson.

Great news for the Ashland area in terms of jobs. Hopefully the Lazer will update us on how many Lawrence Countians actually will get one of these jobs. I predict NOT MANY.

If Big Sandy Plant is currently running efficiently with 25 employees, what are they going to do with an additional 125 employees?

Liberty filed for bankruptcy last year in February. This looks like a very risky business gamble or a calculated move by AEP. It is a perfect avenue for AEP to unload Ky Power to save face. Lawrence co may as well get prepared to finally say goodbye the Power Plant. Thanks, democrats, AEP, and the scapegoat Liberty. You couldn’t fit 125 people in that butchered place now. The 125 employees will probably be scrapping the place. Breath the fresh air and witness our county rotting. Another casualty of the Democrats war on coal.

There is the possibility that liberty uses the old system of called maintenance outage, meaning they staff the plant to take care of the majority of repairs, running or down! That’s how aep staffed for yrs, till the deregulation talks came about! But I don’t see need for many extra maintenance men at a small gas fired unit.

It never ceases to amaze me how infected KAG and her liberal bunch are with TDS. TDS is real and I’m lovin’ it. Keep living rent free in their heads Mr. Trump!
