RESOLUTION 2025-01 TASK FORCE ON EMS
Mayor Slone discussed the Resolution 2024-01 that will establish a Task Force on Emergency Medical Services. Slone said, “Over the last 3-5 years it feels like a widening of response time and at times a lack of service, somewhat.”
“The ambulance service is privately owned and we agree that the ambulance services are doing their very best, Slone told council members. “Since Covid there has been a decrease in personnel, paramedics, EMT’S and less ambulances. So we want to take a hard look at the situation by forming a task force.”
The service is owned by Patriot Ambulance Services out of Ironton, Ohio. The manager of the operation has not responded to Lazer attempts to reach him for comment.
The mayor said there have been 15 incidents in the past 12 months in which CPR had to be performed by LVFD members due to the ambulance not arriving soon enough.
According to Slone, there will be a 12 member task force that will meet at least 5 times and will collect data and talk to surrounding counties’ officials. The Task Force will have until July 1st 2025 to report its findings.
