City to ‘get aggressive’ on code enforcement

The Louisa City Council had a Regular Scheduled Monthly Meeting on Tuesday April 9, 2024 at Louisa City Hall, 215 N. Main Street, Louisa, Kentucky 41230 at 6 PM. Mayor of Louisa Harold Slone was in attendance along with Louisa City Council Members Caleb Farley, Rose Lester, Coty Roe and Keith Chaffin. Absent were Joey McClanahan and Gary Robertson.
MAYOR COMMENTS
City of Louisa Mayor Harold Slone discussed Child Abuse Prevention Month is in April. Fire School starts the first weekend in May. Hundred of students will attend a Control Burn of a house of Clayton Lane. There will be a cookout at 6PM at Fire Station 2 on May 4, 2024.
Slone discussed a Retirement luncheon for Kathy Compton on Friday April 12, 2024 at 12:30PM at Louisa City Hall. Mrs. Compton has been with the city for 24 years. Applications are available at city hall or on the city’s website.
CDBFG Funds that have been allocated for Fire Station 1 renovations. The City of Louisa has purchased the lot across from Fire Station 1 and received verification that $750,000 can be used as reserve with new paperwork completed.
Mayor Slone selected the Code Enforcement Board which will include Greg Endicott, Melissa Shapaka. Bill Bradley was named to the Code Enforcement with a Motion by Keith Chaffin 2nd by Coty Roe. Cory VanHoose was named as alternate with a Motion by Caleb Farley 2nd by Keith Chaffin. City of Louisa Police Officer Teddy Newsome is the new Code Enforcement Officer.
APPROVE MINUTES
The City Council unanimously approved the Minutes with a Motion by Caleb Farley 2nd by Coty Roe.
STOP SIGN IN MEADOWBROOK REMOVED BY CITY
The City Council also made a Motion by Keith Chaffin 2nd by Coty Rose to remove the stop sign at the intersection of Violet Lane and Preece. Council member Keith Chaffin spoke to the problem the sign causes and that it is not supposed to be present on a through highway. None Opposed.
