The Lawrence County Fiscal Court has officially applied for a $5,000,000 AML Grant which would be for the construction of a full-service lodge near the Eagle Ridge Golf Course at Yatesville Lake park.
This will be a partnership with Yatesville Lake LLC.
The Lodge will consist of 40 rooms, restaurant, dining area, guest laundry room, fitness center, gift shop, game room, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, hot tub, banquet hall, conference room and a walking trail.
These amenities are of great need for Lawrence County and surrounding communities.
“A Lodge will give a huge economic boost to our county and area. Not only will our citizens enjoy the use of the Lodge but it will bring visitors to our county from other states as well as attracting new businesses,” Deputy Lawrence County Judge Executive Vince Doty said today.
Lawrence County is supported in the effort by being a coal affected county thus being eligible for the Abandoned Mines Lands grant.
Great job Mr. Doty. My dad always said there was money out there, you just have to apply for it. It’s a lengthy process but well worth it for our county
This is BULL BUTTER! Our roads that people travel DAILY need fixed!
you could try to get the city residents pay more might as well
Try to keep up KAG!
They can’t use this money to fix roads Nicki, it’s a grant for economic development. There are no grants to fix roads (as far as i know). Your taxes are used for roads, and tourism produces tax money…and that helps fix roads and many other things. It is a good thing for LC Nicki!
😍yesss we need this
Lawrence county needs auto plant , a big manufacturer , a oil gas cracker plant , a new mini steel mill , a refinery , a amozon distabution center ! IT NEEDS JOBS ! Not another fat cat hang out for politicos and lawyers .
I agree with you in principle Joe; however what are the probabilities LC will get what you mentioned? This Lodge is something as opposed to nothing. A lessor of evils, perhaps?
Hey Nicki, maybe the Lawrence County Library would loan the county a few million they have saved up.
Joe you don’t have a clue. This is grant money. You get up off your butt and work to get these plants to come here. It ain’t easy. You can’t just snap your fingers and poof a manufacturer buys property builds a building and starts making stuff. This is a step in the right direction. This will mean jobs to. We need to be happy every time we get something that helps the county. Tourism brings millions into Lawrence County. Research it then you’ll believe me.
I have seen a hundred grants written and get what you ask for . How about something for the working middle class and not the old money gang that refused to let a huge mall be built by Jim booth years ago because they could not control it .
Looks like they could start fixing roads with the salary the county is paying to have 2 judge executives. The previous administration didn’t have to have someone to do his job for him, if Phil is to incompetent do do the job he needs to resign.
