Louisa, Ky. — Lawrence Co. senior tennis standout Kennedy Gauze will continue her academic and athletic career at the University of Pikeville after signing on the dotted line recently.

- Lawrence County has won the Region title these years
- She earned 4 points each year toward winning the team championship (LC earned 7 points last year)
- 3 straight trips to Lexington to participate in the State singles tournament
- An overall singles record of 54-6 in the regular season (9-0 in the region tournament)
- #1 seed in the last three region singles’ tournaments and is currently the #1 seed for the 2024
- Winning the tournament this year would give her 4 championships in four years and an undefeated record – this record could never be broken, only tied.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“… Kennedy Gauze’s impact on the LCHS tennis program is can not be overstated or exaggerated. Covid is the only opponent that kept her out of the 15th region championship since her 8th grade year. She has been the cornerstone of three Region championship teams in as many years as well as the 2024 season.”
“… Kennedy has been a service to Lawrence County tennis off the court as well as on. She is a straight A student and in several college level classes. She also helps coach younger players being an assistant to the middle school tennis team.”
“… The Lawrence County girls’ team has won the 15th Region Championship every year since 2011 except for 2016. The 2021-2023 and hopefully 2024 years would not have been won without Kennedy Gauze’s contributions. There are two other seniors from Belfry (Clare McNamee) and Magoffin County (Makinna Caudill) that have pushed Kennedy every year and to win three team titles while these ladies have also been in the 15th region is also an amazing accomplishment.”
“… Kennedy is an amazing talent, an amazing scholar, an amazing teammate, and an amazing person. I am going to be incredibly sad to not have her on the team next season, but I’ll be more excited to see what she does with the rest of her life. So far, she’s doing pretty well!!”
