BULLDOG LANE — The Lawrence County Board of Education held the regular monthly meeting Monday, March 18, 2019 at the Lawrence County High School.
This month’s meeting was short but sweet as the board recognized outstanding Map scores and the teachers who made that possible. Also, graduation and last day of school dates were announced.
Dr. Fletcher began with the Staff Recognition for Teachers with the highest First Semester MAP Gains. First, Mrs. Kelly Musick From Blaine elementary school received two awards for Highest Growth Assessments for reading and math. Next, was Mrs. Courtney Kingsmore for Highest Overall Reading for grades 2-5. The highest overall score for Math for grades 2-5 is Mrs. Nora Huff. The highest growth overall for reading for grades 2-5 is Mrs. Susan Adams. The highest growth overall in math for grades 2-5 is Mrs. Jennifer Perkins. The highest overall scores for math grades 6-8 at LMS is Mr. Benji Adams. The highest overall math scores for grades 6-8 is Mrs. Jessica Crittendon at LMS. The highest overall reading scores for grades 6-8 at LMS are Mrs. Bethany Howard. The highest growth for math scores for grades 6-8 at LMS is Mrs. Amy Chicko. The highest growth index in Map scores for LCHS is Mr. Aaron Wellman. The highest growth in math Map scores for LCHS is Mrs. Kim Shirkey.
Next on the agenda was Communications:
There will be no school for students Friday, March 22, 2019 this will be a professional development day for staff.
Spring Sports Opening Days was in full effect with the baseball, softball, and tennis players all took to the field.
Next was a discussion pertaining to dual credit apprenticeships working with the vocational schools to offer more of a range of education to all students doing vocational training.
Approval of minutes from the regular February meeting were motioned by Madelene Roberts; seconded by James See.
Approval of Claims and Orders of The Treasurer was motioned by Barbra Robinson; seconded by Garnett Skaggs.
Approval of the Monthly Financial Report was motioned by Madelene Roberts; seconded by James See.
On the Consent Agenda per diem and expenses for the board members present was approved motion made by James See; seconded by Garnett Skaggs.
Graduation date is set for Friday, May 24, 2019 at 7:00 pm. And last day of school is currently May 24, 2019 with subject to change.
Approval to acknowledge receipt of Superintendent’s Personnel Action/Update was motioned by Garnett Skaggs; seconded by Barbra Robinson.
Approval for adjournment was motioned by Barbra Robinson; seconded by Madelene Roberts.
