Grayson, Ky. — After a KHSAA ruling in the Region 12 Boys Golf Tournament, Lawrence Co. will now be represented by two golfers in the State Tournament that begins Monday morning at Stonecrest.
At the Region 12 tournament a Russell player was disqualified. Russell issued a protest and the KHSAA ruled in their favor. That tied the Russell team for 2nd with Montgomery County.
Since this occurred a couple of days after the tournament, they couldn’t have a playoff. The KHSAA decided to allow the top three schools to advance on to the state tournament, instead of only the top two. That caused the Russell #1 to go in with the team and not an individual. That bumped Senior Alex Meadows up to 10th place for the individual qualifiers and placed him in the state tournament.
Senior Alex Meadows will tee off at 9:09 and Junior CJ Whitt will take his first shot at 9:36 Monday morning in Prestonsburg at the StoneCrest Golf Course.
Rowan County, Montgomery County and Russell will represent Region 12 in the State Tournament.
