COACH’S COMMENTS

“… I’m excited for the opportunity to be the boys golf coach at LCHS. I’m also sad on how it came open with the passing of coach Ryan Sammons. He was loved by his players and everyone he was around. He was a colleague and a great person.”

“… When I accepted the job I was told about this senior class and the potential they had. Reece Hughes, Tylan Perry, Miley Akers, and Ashton West have helped me tremendously.”

“… Our schedule includes many 18-hole tournaments that will push these boys to compete against the best. We’ve had a great start to the season. We have finished 8th in the Gullet Invitational at Stonecrest and finished 6th in the Ashland Invitational at Bellefonte country club.  Reece Hughes finished 8th at Stonecrest and 4th at Bellefonte.”

“…We still have 6 invitational tournaments and the KY 2A Section 8 tournaments remaining this year, along with the 12th Region tournament.

“… We have a large number of boys participating in golf this year. I’ve tweaked our practice schedule some to accommodate the large numbers and scheduled several local schools to play 9-hole weekday matches so that they can get some important experience, including getting the defending WV state champions Cabell Midland on the schedule.”

“… I want to thank the parents for their help and participation. I couldn’t do it without them. And also to the local businesses who have helped make it possible for these boys to participate in the tournaments. We will do our best to promote each and every one.”

“… I believe this group has what it takes to compete for the 2A and 12th Region championships.”
