Louisa, Ky. — The Lawrence Co. Volleyball team is off to a 2-0 start to the season with victories over Rose Hill and Fairview.

#5 Aryn Huffman with the set against Rose Hill.

In the season opener the Bulldogs hosted Rose Hill and came away with a 3-1 victory on Monday.

#10 Kenzley Brooks with the nice save to keep the Dawgs in the point.

In the first set it was the Royals with a 26-24 win before the VollwyDawgs won the next three sets in convincing fashion 25-10, 25-11 and 25-8 to win the match.

#3 Sophie Adkins is ready to serve versus Rose Hill.

On Thursday Lawrence Co. travels to Fairview and won the match 3-0.

The Bulldogs took control early in set one with a 25-19 win. In the second set it was much of the same with a 25-8 win and then they closed it out in set three with a 25-10 score.

#1 Emma Collins serves against Rose Hill last week.

The VolleyDawgs will play at home tonight versus Magoffin Co. ( 0-3 ) at Greenup Co. ( 3-0 ) on Tuesday and then host the Bulldog Bash on Saturday with Tolsia, Fairview and Johnson Central coming into town.

Head Coach Autumn Blevins talks to her team during a timeout.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“…It was a solid start to our season, and our veteran players are making a huge impact.  We have the ability to run a quick paced offense and our defense has improved tremendously over the years.  While there are a few things we need to refine, I believe we are poised to be extremely competitive within our region this season.”

“… It’s great to get a win on the road especially against Fairview. They’ve always had a competitive team throughout the years.  Last night, we had a slow start in the first set but we were able to adjust quickly and pull ahead. Once we flipped the script and started running our offense, we were unstoppable.”

“… I’m excited for our players going into next week. We host Magoffin, travel to Greenup, and host our annual Bulldog Bash tournament playing Tolsia, Fairview, and Johnson Central. It’s going to be a great week of volleyball.”
