The Lawrence County Tourism Meeting was held on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, at
5:30PM at the Fred M. Vinson Museum, 2nd Floor, 315 Madison Street, Louisa, Kentucky 41230. LC Tourism Commissioner Wes Kingsmore was in attendance along with members Brenda Hardwick, Debbie Hill, Susie Chambers, Chris Jobe and Christy Moore.
SPECIAL GUEST AND BROCHURE DEVELOPMENT
Johnda Barker of Kentucky Tourism Services was contracted by the LC Tourism Commission to help with the budget, matching funds with the state, designing brochures and many other things she has expertise for. Her services are $1,000 per quarter, LC Tourism can end the contract at any time with a 30 day notice. She has worked in Tourism for many years, Kingsmore said.
COUNTRY MUSIC HIGHWAY ADDED QUEENS OF 23 CELEBRATION
LC Tourism celebrated the Queens of 23 on September 14, 2024. There was a large attendance at Buchanan to show support for the Queens. See story and photos on Lazer main page.
FRED M VINSON DINNER AND SHOW
There was a Dinner and Show at the Fred M. Vinson Museum on August 30-31.
BENCH REPORT
Chris Jobe was in charge of an agreement between LCHS Carpentry Class and LC Tourism to make benches. There have been 7 benches made that will be given out to the community. A large Thank You to LCHS Carpentry Class for the benches made and more to come. They are not for sale.
MINUTES AND FINANCIAL REPORT FOR AUGUST 2024

LAWRENCE COUNTY FFA FARM TO TABLE DINNER
This event will be held on Thursday September 26, 2024. The LC Tourism will be reserving a table at the event for $400.
LAWRENCE COUNTY HERITAGE HARVEST
The Lawrence County Heritage Harvest will be on Saturday September 28, 2024. This year Lawrence County and Boyd County will participate. There will be 10 sites in Lawrence County to visit. LC Tourism made a decision to donate up to $300 for marketing. Motion by Brenda Hardwick 2nd by Chris Jobe.
LAWRENCE COUNTY HALLOWEEN TRAIL
LC Tourism made the decision to donate $1,000 to the Halloween Trail. Large shout out to LC Fiscal Court and Suzie New from “A Ray of Hope” for participating.
CULVERT CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Brenda Hardwick participated with Culvert City School Event. The school has a mascot named “Cal” and when you take trips you take a picture of Cal and then send the picture to the school to show the class where Cal has been. Brenda Hardwick discussed sending the Culvert City Elementary a Lawrence County basket filled with goodies up to $50. Motion by Christy Moore 2nd by Wes Kingsmore. All in favor.
HORSE SHOW FUNDING REQUEST
LC Tourism donated $500 to classes for the Horse Show. Motion by Chris Jobe 2nd by Brenda Hardwick. All in favor.
NOVEMBER THANKSGIVING TURKEY TROT
Tourism discussed the November Thanksgiving Turkey Trot, the Thanksgiving day 5k run. Tourism donated $1,500 with a Motion by Susie Chambers 2nd by Debbie Hill. All in favor.
KIDS FISHING TOURNAMENT
Tourism donated $200 to the Kids Fishing Tournament this weekend. Motion by Debbie Hill 2nd by Susie Chambers . All in favor.

Lawrence County Tourism Meeting, August 19, 2024

The Lawrence County Tourism Commission met on Monday, August 19, 2024 at the Fred Vinson Tourism Office. Members present were Chairman Wes Kingsmore, Brenda Hardwick, Tom Bradley, Chris Jobe, Christy Moore and Susie Chambers. Susan Salyer was there representing the Levisa Lazer.
The meeting was called to order by Wes and he also offered the opening prayer. The July minutes were read and approved with a motion by Chris and a second by Brenda. All in favor. The financial report was presented showing a balance of $16,706.85. A motion was made by Susie with a second by Tom to accept. All in favor.
Under old business it was reported that the Fallsburg Festival overall was very good. The only thing that might change next year would be the time and maybe have it in the fall.
Under new business we had already approved money for the Big Sandy Film Festival to cover the event space rental. This ended up being donated so we asked that our funds be used for awards. A motion was made by Susie with a second by Brenda for this approval. All in favor. The Murder Mystery Dinner is scheduled for August 30 and 31. Our upstairs will be available should they need it. We approved with a motion by Tom and a second by Brenda to give the Bass Club up to $1,250.00 for their Septemberfest fishing tournament. All in favor. Wes will talk to Jason about this. With a motion by Susie and a second by Chris we approved a donation of $8,000.00 for the Septemberfest festival. All in favor. We also approved a $600.00 request from the Lawrence County Saddle Club for their annual ride. Tom made a motion for this request with a second by Chris. All in favor. The Harvest Moon Gala is set for September 26. We will offer assistance in any way we can help.
