ASHLAND too much for Lady Bulldogs
Louisa, Ky. — On Monday night at home the Lady Dawgs couldn’t cash in on some early opportunities against Ashland’s star pitcher Megan Murphy, who has verbally committed to Morehead St. She had 12 strikeouts in a complete game victory over the Lady Dawgs.
It was a 2-1 game in the 5th inning when the Lady Tomcats scored six runs to put the game away.
Natalie Rice scored Ally Marcum in the 2nd inning on a perfectly executed squeeze play but the Lady Dawgs left two runners on in that inning and proved costly. Ciana Bowen went 2-3 at the plate, Ally Marcum and Natalie Rice both had one hit and was on base twice, Amber Triplett had a single as well. Haleigh Peck started in the circle and pitched good for four innings before Bowen relieved her in the fifth. With the loss Lawrence Co. drops to 4-4 and Ashland improved to 6-1.

COACH’S COMMENT
“… Haleigh was getting tired so we made the change with the bases loaded down 2-1 in the 5th and Ciana made a good pitch but we were a little bit out of position and the girl cleared the bases.” Murphy is a good pitcher, Morehead St. commit but we helped her tonight swinging at bad pitches.” We played well over the weekend, won two Friday night and then Saturday vs Fleming we made too many errors and it cost us.” We hit the ball well – starting to put it in play more, I think we are starting to come around.”
