…Newest Members on the Board Maddox and Triplett Attend First Meeting

The Lawrence County Public Library, 102 W. Main Street, had a Special Board Meeting on Wednesday July 23, 2025 at 10AM. LC Public Library Director Deena Meade was in attendance along with the Board of Trustees, Lindsay Smith, Connie Fairchild, JoJo Triplett, Lynn Perry and Andie Maddox.
APPROVE MINUTES
The Board unanimously approved the Minutes from June 11, 2025 meeting with a Motion by Andie Maddox and seconded by Connie Fairchild.
APPROVE FINANCIALS
The Board approved May 2025 Financials with a Motion by Lindsay Smith and seconded by JoJo Triplett. None Opposed.

DISCUSS POTENTIAL CHANGES TO MEETING ROOM POLICY
Director Meade discussed changes to the Meeting Room Policy, many patrons have asked about having Birthday Parties or Baby Showers at the library, she said. The Board decided to have Director Meade check with the surrounding counties on how they operate, and report back at next month’s meeting.
DISCUSS UPCOMING BOARD CHANGES FOR THE NEW FISCAL YEAR
There was discussion about the dates and times the meetings are held, which stayed the same. The meetings will continue to be on the Second Monday of the month at Noon.
Also, New Board Officers were chosen.
President – Lindsay Smith
V P – Connie Fairchild
Secretary – Andie Maddox
Treasurer – Lynn Perry
Member at Large – JoJo Triplett
LIVE STREAMING OF MEETINGS
The Board then decided on whether to keep Live-streaming or go to Record and Archive. The Board decided to stop Live-streaming and Record and Archive but also post a link on Facebook. Motion by JoJo Triplett and seconded by Andie Maddox. None Opposed.
DISCUSS HIRING OF BOARD ATTORNEY
The Board discussed hiring a Board Attorney for the purpose of attending monthly meetings and approving any action. Again, the Board decided to have Director Meade gather info and report back to the Board with her findings. Director Meade said, “There are 3 attorneys I have talked to, and 2 others that I still need to make contact with.”
Director Meade told The Lazer that the salary for the new board attorney has not been determined.
“We do not know yet. I am getting estimates for this. As soon as the board approves one with the salary I will make sure you have it. Right now I have three estimates and am getting two more.”
