LC FISCAL COURT SPECIAL MEETING APPROVED 2023 TAX RATES…

The LC Fiscal Court had a Special Meeting on Friday, September 1, 2023 at the downtown Lawrence County Courthouse, 122 South Main Cross, 2nd Floor, Louisa, Kentucky at 10AM.
LC Judge Executive Phil Carter called the LC Fiscal Court Special Meeting to Order. The following magistrates were attended the meeting, Rick Blackburn, David Pinson and Michael Halcomb. John Scaggs was absent. No other media besides thelevisalzer.com covered meeting.
There was no discussion from the LC Fiscal Court over the Resolution for Discretionary Funds. Motion was made by Michael Halcomb 2nd by Rick Blackburn.
The LC Fiscal Court approved the tax rates for the county. Motor Vehicle/Watercraft tax at 16.4, which has remained the same since the 1980’s. Motion by Michael Halcomb 2nd by David Pinson.
The Documented Watercraft/Aircraft tax rate was set at 15.7. This tax will be for houseboats at the LC Marina not licensed at the LC Clerk’s Office to be paid through the Coast Guard. Motion by Michael Halcomb 2nd by Rick Blackburn. None Opposed. Roll Call. (SEE VIDEO)
The Fiscal Court approved the rates from the Lawrence County taxing boards as follows:
State 11.40
County 15.70
School 57.20
Library 11.80
Health Dept 6.00
Extension 7.90 (tangible 8.18)
Soil Conservation 2.40
Fire & Rescue 3.00 (3 cents per acre)
The 2023 Tax Rates were accepted by the LC Fiscal Court. Motion by Michael Halcomb 2nd by Rick Blackburn. Roll Call. The LC Clerk Chris Jobe and LC Sheriff Chuck Jackson both agreed that setting the tax rates now will give the citizens of Lawrence County a 2% discount for 2 weeks longer. The LC Tax Bills will print out around September 15, 2023. (SEE VIDEO)
Finally the LC Fiscal Court approved the Motion to not print out any tax bills under <$10.00 the Motion was made by Michael Halcomb 2nd by David Pinson. The LC Fiscal Court Special Meeting was adjourned.
