Drilling contractor moves to KY 1395 to fix three breaks in pavement
(THIS WAS SENT YESTERDAY WITH AN INCORRECT HEADLINE. It said KY 2036; should have said KY 1395. Sorry for any confusion!)
LAWRENCE COUNTY (Thursday, January 10, 2019) – Tim Spencer, an engineer with Highway District 12’s Paintsville Section Office, announced today that slide repairs on KY 1395, two locations (mile points 0.62 and 1.26) are scheduled to start on Monday, January 14.
The road will be closed to all traffic at the work zone sites from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. “We will work with the school and emergency personnel the best we can,” said Spencer.
The project should take four days or less to complete.
State trucks pre-treating Friday for expected weekend snow event
HIGHWAY DISTRICT 12 (Thursday, January 10, 2019) – Weather forecasts generally agree that the Highway District 12 area will see snow this weekend.
D12 Snowfighters are on it, ready to battle snow, ice, and anything else Mother Nature sends this way. On Friday, you may see plow trucks out on the roadways spreading salt brine. It looks like water, but it is actually a form of pre-treating the roads prior to a snow event.
Salt brine prevents snow and ice from bonding to the pavement, which makes plowing and cleanup faster, easier, and safer.
D12 manufactures salt brine at the Shelby Maintenance Garage for all 10 maintenance facilities in the District’s seven counties: Lawrence, Johnson, Martin, Floyd, Knott, Pike, and Letcher.
