Lawrence grand jury returns 18 indictments
LOUISA, KY. — (1-18-17) A Lawrence Co. Grand Jury returned 18 Indictments in the month of January after not meeting in December.
Indictments show that heroin has made its way to Louisa after a man was caught with it in his possession. Two local men involved in a Marijuana Robbery in October that involved a firearm were indicted on charges that could put them in jail for up to 20 years. A twist in the case comes with an Indictment on the man who they had intended to rob. Cordle was indicted for Trafficking in Marijuana.
Bradley E. Parsley, 38 of Louisa, Ky was indicted on the charge of Possession of Controlled Substance in the 1st degree, a class D felony with a penalty of 1 to 5 years.
The Grand Jury charges that on or before November 21st, 2015 in Lawrence County the defendant acting alone or in complicity with Jessica Blevins knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, Methamphetamine.
Michael K. Cordle, 21 of Blaine, Ky. was indicted on the charges of Possession Of A Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree, a class D felony with a penalty of 1 to 5 years and Trafficking Marijuana (less than 8 ounces) a class A misdemeanor with a penalty of no more than 12 months.
The Grand Jury charges that on or before October 6, 2016 in Lawrence Co. the defendant was knowingly and unlawfully in possession of a schedule I Controlled Substance, namely dimethoxyphenethylamine. The defendant also was knowingly and unlawfully trafficking in 0.003 grams of Marijuana.
Devon Perry, 20 of Louisa, Ky. was indicted on the charge of Robbery In The 1st Degree/Complicity, a class B felony that has a penalty of 10 to 20 years.
The Grand Jury charges that on Oct. 6, 2016 in Lawrence Co. acting alone or in complicity with Anthony Bart knowingly and unlawfully, while in the course of committing a theft from Michael Cordle, used or threatened the immediate use of physical force in an attempt to accomplish the theft while armed with a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument.
Anthony Bart, 20 of Catlettsburg, Ky. was indicted on charges of Robbery In the 1st Degree/Complicity a class B felony with a penalty of 10 to 20 years, Theft By Unlawful Taking (Firearm) a class D felony with a penalty of 1 to 5 years and Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, a class D felony with a penalty of 1 to 5 years.
The Grand Jury charges that on Oct. 6th, 2016 in Lawrence Co. the defendant acting alone or in complicity with Devon Perry knowingly and unlawfully, while in the course of committing a theft from Mr. Michael Cordle used or threatened the immediate use of physical force in an attempt to accomplish the theft, while armed with a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument. The defendant knowingly and unlawfully taking a Taurus Brand .38 handgun from Lori Bart. The defendant knowingly and unlawfully engaging in conduct that creates the substantial danger of serious physical injury or death of another person.
Percilla Boggs, 31 of Paintsville, KY. was indicted on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree/Complicity, a class D felony with a penalty of 1 to 5 years, Possession/Use of Drug Paraphernalia/Complicity and Theft By Unlawful Taking Under $500./Complicity.

Anthony Ratliff, 33 of Paintsville, KY. was indicted on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree/Complicity, a class D felony with a penalty of 1 to 5 years, Possession/Use of Drug Paraphernalia/Complicity and Theft By Unlawful Taking Under $500./Complicity.

Joseph A. Warrix, 28 of Martha, Ky. was indicted on charges of Theft By Unlawful Taking Under $10,000/Complicity a class D felony with a penalty of 1 to 5 years, Persistent Felony Offender 1st Degree an enhancement, and Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree/Complicity a class B misdemeanor.
The Grand Jury charges that on Dec. 12th, 2016 in Lawrence Co., the defendant acting alone or in complicity with Joshua Warrix knowingly and unlawfully taking a Bushnell Brand rifle scope valued at $79.97, an old timer brand knife valued at $19,78, a stealth camera memory card reader valued at $19.83, a SOG brand knife valued at $19.97, a buck knife valued at $12.53, a Simmons Brand Range Finder valued at $98.00 and a Simmons Range finder valued at $148.00 from the Sporting Goods department of Walmart of Louisa, Ky. with a total value of $735.72. The defendant acting alone or in complicity with Joshua Warrix knowingly and unlawfully damaged property owned by Walmart of Louisa causing $71.16 to the Sporting Goods Dept. Display case.

Dr. William J. Short, 53 of Ashland, Ky. was indicted on the charges of Fleeing Evading Police In the 1st degree, a class D felony with a penalty of 1 to 5 years, Wanton Endangerment in the 1st degree, a class D felony with a penalty of 1 to 5 years, Operating A Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs First Offense within 5 years, a class A misdemeanor and Reckless Driving, a violation.
The Grand Jury charges that on or before December 25th the defendant knowingly and unlawfully disregarded officer Hunter James with the Louisa Police Department’s signs and signals to stop in an attempt to flee an arrest. The defendant knowingly and unlawfully manifesting extreme indifference to human life engaged in conduct which creates substantial danger of serious physical injury to another person, namely Sgt. Steve Wilburn with the Louisa Police Dept. Mr. Short knowingly and unlawfully operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs that impair a driver’s ability to operate that vehicle. The defendant knowingly and unlawfully operated a motor vehicle upon a highway without regards for the safety and convenience of others.
Shelly Triplett, 32 of Louisa, Ky. was indicted on Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, a class D felony with a penalty of 1 to 5 years, and Operating On Suspended Revoked Operators License, a class B misdemeanor.
The Grand Jury charges that on or before October 2nd, 2016 in Lawrence Co. the defendant knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine. The defendant knowingly and unlawfully operated a motor vehicle while his operator’s license was suspended or revoked.
Brett Michael Thomas, 26 of Fort Gay, WV. was indicted on the charge of Burglary In The First Degree, a class D felony with a penalty of 1 to 5 years.
The Grand Jury Charges that on or about December 23rd, 2016 in Lawrence Co. the defendant knowingly and unlawfully entered and remained in Walmart of Louisa, KY. with the intent to commit the crime of theft, after previously being banned from the facility.
Brandon Birt, 29 of Louisa, Ky. was indicted on the charge of Possession Of Controlled Substance In The First Degree, a class D felony with a penalty of 1 to 5 years.
The Grand Jury charges that on or before August 9th, 2016 in Lawrence Co. the defendant knowingly and unlawfully possessed a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine.
Cassandra E. Robertson, 46 of Louisa, Ky. was indicted on the charge of Burglary In The Third Degree, a class D felony with a penalty of 1 to 5 years.
The Grand Jury charges that on or about Nov. 29th, 2016 in Lawrence Co. the defendant knowingly and unlawfully entered and remained in Walmart of Louisa with the intent to commit the crime of theft, after previously being banned twice from the facility.
Wendy Jude, 30 of Louisa, KY. was indicted on the charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, a class D felony with a penalty of 1 to 5 years, Possession/Use Drug Paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor and Public Intoxication, a class B misdemeanor.
The Grand Jury charges that on or before Nov. 26th, 2016 the defendant knowingly and unlawfully possessed a controlled substance, Methamphetamine. The defendant unlawfully possessed a glass pipe and an altered cut straw and baggies. The defendant unlawfully appeared in a public setting while under the influence of a controlled substance.
Robert D. Powers, 23 of Louisa, was indicted on the charges of Fleeing Evading Police 1st Degree a class D felony with a penalty of 1 to 5 years, Operating A Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs 3rd offense within 5 years (aggravating circumstances) Misdemeanor with a penalty of not less than 240 days, Receiving Stolen Property Under $500.00 a class A misdemeanor and Assault In The Fourth (Domestic Violence) a class A misdemeanor.
The Grand Jury Charges that on or before Aug. 18th, 2016 in Lawrence Co. the defendant knowingly and unlawfully disregarded Deputy Mason Keefer with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department’s signs and signals to stop in an attempt to flee arrest, the defendant knowingly and unlawfullyperated a motor vehicle in excess of 30 mph above the posted speed limit while under the influence of alcohol or other substances that impair a driver’ s ability to operate that motor vehicle, the defendant knowingly and unlawfully possessed a stolen Apple I Phone that was stolen from Andrea Tackett. The defendant knowingly and unlawfully was striking Andrea Tackett, causing physical injury, and operating a motor vehicle upon a highway without reguard for the safety and convenience.
Matthew Caudill, 34 of Louisa, Ky. was indicted on the charges of Possession of Controlled Substance In the First degree (2 counts), a class D felony with penalty of 1 to 5 years, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under The Influence of Alcohol/ Drugs 1st offense, a class A misdemeanor with a penalty of no more than 12 months, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor and Operating On suspended or Revoked License, a class B misdemeanor. The Grand Jury Charges that on or before Oct. 3rd 2016 in Lawrence County the defendant knowingly and unlawfully possessed a controlled substance, Methamphetamine. The defendant knowingly and unlawfully possessed a controlled substance, Heroin. The defendant knowingly and unlawfully operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs, possessed baggies, altered glass pipe, and an altered straw, the defendant was operating a vehicle on a revoked or suspended license.
Green W. Ramey, 37 of Louisa was indicted on the charge of Receiving Stolen Property, $11,000/Complicity. This is a class C felony and a penalty of 5 to 10 years.
The Grand Jury charges that on or before May 7th, 2015 in Lawrence Co. the defendant acting alone or in complicity with Lowell Hayes Jr. knowingly and unlawfully being in physical possession of a John Deere Brand utility vehicle stolen from Robert Cyrus of Louisa, Ky. valued at $11,000.
Lowell Hayes, Jr., 51, of Louisa, Ky. was indicted on charges of Receiving Stolen Property $11,000/Complicity a class C felony with a penalty of 5 to 10 years and Persistent Felony Offender in the 2nd degree and enhancement.
The Grand Jury charges that on or before May 7th, 2015 in Lawrence Co. that the defendant acting alone or in complicity with Green Ramey was knowingly and unlawfully in physical possession of a John Deere Brand utility vehicle that was stolen from Robert Cyrus of Louisa, Ky. and valued at $11,000. Having had a previous felony is also charged with Persistent Felony Offender which enhances a sentence.
