LAWRENCE COUNTY TOURISM WISHES EVERYONE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

The Lawrence County Tourism had a Regular Meeting on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025 at 5:30PM at the Fred M Vinson Museum, 315 Madison Street, 2nd Floor, Louisa, Kentucky 41230. Lawrence County Tourism Commissioner Wes Kingsmore was in attendance along with the Tourism Members Brenda Hardwick, Susie Chambers, Debbie Hill, Chris Jobe, Thomas Bradley, Christy Moore, Kate Cecil. Also present Johnda Barker.

ROCKTOBER UPDATE

Colored Rocks have been placed in Louisa and Lawrence County months ago. If you find any of the rocks bring it to Brenda Hardwick at the big sandy news to collect $50. 12 rocks have been found, leaving 5 rocks still out there to be discovered.

MATCHING FUNDS/KTIA 

The Lawrence County Tourism Commission has received $13,000 in matching funds from the Kentucky Department of Tourism.

CMH 23 (Country Music Highway) ADVERTISING

The Lawrence County Tourism has become aware it is possible to purchase Radio and TV advertising on Foothills TV. LC Tourism was contacted by CMH 23 recently. Radio is separate but TV on Foothills can be purchased.

TURKEY TROT

The Turkey Trot will be on Thanksgiving morning at 8AM at the LCHS Football Field area. 137

STORYBOOK TRAIL RECAP

LC Tourism IT Committee chairperson Kate Cecil’s class wrote a book that is at the Storybook Trail at the Lawrence Co. Park. The kids got to write the book, then the classroom got to go to Storybook Trail and read the story they wrote.

Chris Jobe made the Motion to check the price to publish the book for kids in Lawrence Co. and visitors with a second from Thomas Bradley.

TRAIL DAYS RECAP

Susie Chambers said, “Trail Days was a great success, we had a lot of people from out of town and local counties.

 MINUTES

The Minutes from the October Meeting were unanimously approved with a Motion by Brenda Hardwick seconded by Christy Moore.

FINANCIAL REPORT 

The Financial Report for October was unanimously approved with a Motion by Susie Chambers seconded by Debbie Hill.

CHRISTMAS DONATION TO CITY OF LOUISA

The Tourism Commission has donated $300 to the City of Louisa for Christmas decorations. Motion by Susie Chambers seconded by Brenda Hardwick. None Opposed.

  • Hager Hill Revival – Debbie Hill – Debbie explained that souls are being saved left and right at Hager Hill.
  • Christmas Get-together- Tom Bradley has invited the Tourism Commission to be guests in his home for the December Regular Meeting.
  • Fallsburg Community Dinner/Journey to Bethlehem – Chris Jobe – More to be announced.

Lawrence County Tourism Meeting, Oct. 20, 2025 MINUTES

The Lawrence County Tourism Commission met on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 5:30 pm at the Fred Vinson Tourism Office. Members in attendance were Chairman Wes Kingsmore, Chris Jobe, Christy Moore, Debbie Hill, Brenda Hardwick and Susie Chambers. IT committee member Kate Cecil was also present as well as Johnda Barker and Susan Salyer.

Wes called the meeting to order and Chris gave the opening prayer.

Their were no guests in attendance so we proceeded to old business. 1. Harvest Tour was considered a success. 2. Rocktober is in full swing with 8 of the17 hidden rocks having been turned in so far.

The minutes of the September meeting were presented and read. A motion was made by Brenda with a second by Debbie to approve. All in favor. The financial report showed a balance of $16,025.72. Susie made a motion to approve with a second by Christy. All in favor.

New business- 1. Our 3rd annual Trail Days will be Nov. 15,16 and 17. The 17th is Kids Day and National take a hike day. We will have guided hikes on Saturday and Sunday. We can also clean-up the trail while hiking. With a motion by Susie and a second by Brenda we voted to spend up to $1,000.00 for this event. All in favor. 2. Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot begins at 8am. 3. Each year the city adds more decorations to the downtown area for Christmas.
