Domestic dispute ends in arrest
On December 4, 2023 officer Joe Osborne with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department responded to a verbal domestic between Jonathan Hale and his wife. Upon arrival the wife stated he was threatening bodily harm to her and her parents. She had video from the Ring door camera that recorded the verbal threatening. After speaking with Mr. Hale with what was heard on the camera he did admit to the threatening. Mr. Hale was then arrested for menacing and terroristic threatening in the third degree.
Two arrested after woman runs during traffic stop
On December 7, 2023 officer Tyler Laney with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office observed while traveling on 645 a vehicle with an expired license plate. Upon contact the driver advised that he was suspended. While running the drive and passenger information the female in the vehicle fled on foot into a nearby field. The female was caught and she advised she fled because she had an active warrant and drugs in her bag. While searching the vehicle a Marijuana pipe with Marijuana was located in the center console. After reading the female her rights she disclosed to Officer Laney that there were more drugs in the vehicle in another bag. The bag was located along with several bags of suspected Methamphetamine, scales and $156.11. All items were placed into evidence and will be sent to the lab for testing. Stephanie Marcum was arrested and charged with fleeing or evading police on foot in the second degree, trafficking in a controlled substance, Methamphetamine, first degree and possession of Anhydrous Ammonia. Samuel Borders was arrested and charged with public intoxication.
Arrest at Fallsburg Country Store
On December 9, 2023 officer Tyler Laney with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department responded to Fallsburg Country Store in reference to a male subject harassing the employees and offering to sell them drugs. Office Laney spoke with Robert Gillespie outside the store and upon contact he seemed confused and stated he had been awake for 11 days. The officer noted that he did appear to be under the influence. Mr. Gillespie denied trying to sell anyone drugs and that he was just talking to them. He did state that he had a small amount of Methamphetamine inside a glasses case on a side pocket of his backpack. Mr. Gillespie was arrested and charged with public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance in the first degree and second offense.
Thats close to nothing for a county sheriffs office to do!
