Lawrence County officials are answering the call during the current snowstorm which has thrown 2-6 inches of snow, then ice, on the Levisa coverage area as well as the rest of the state and much of the nation.

Lawrence County DES Travis Hughes has been traveling throughout the county and says roads are treacherous in places and the zero degree temperatures make road salt less effective.

“The county is working hard on scraping the roads and getting as many as they can back open,” Hughes said this morning. The judge has re-opened county roads but it is still pretty bad.”

Hughes says his latest news from headquarters is there is to be more snowfall beginning Thursday night and extending over the coming weekend.
