CHANDLER SHEPHERD IS ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE MAJOR LEAGUES
Locl grad moves up to Triple A with Red Sox
Lawrence County’s very own Chandler Shepherd, 23 went from Lawrence County Bulldog, to Kentucky Wildcat and now as of June 20th, 2016 was promoted to Pawtucket Red Sox.
Pawtucket is a Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, the next thing to the najor leagues.
Chandler played in 22 games as a reliever with a Double-A team this season and the latest move up the ladder shows he’s not slowing down, only accelerating his dream. He leaves the double A Sea Dogs with a 1-1 record, and a 1.80 earned run average. In 30 innings he struck out a staggering 39 batters while walking only 10.
Shepard was drafted in the 13th round by the Boston Red Sox in the 2014 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft. Chandler’s mother, Cindy Shepherd states, “ I am so very proud that he is getting closer and closer to fulfilling his dream, It’s very rewarding to see your children succeed.”
She also said how much it means to “Chan” that his hometown is always so supportive of him.
