Prestonsburg, Ky. — Seniors Boedy Maynard and Braxton Davis were both outstanding on the mound as Lawrence Co. beat Pikeville 6-0 in the quarterfinals of the 15th Region Baseball Tournament Monday at Stonecrest.

#30 Owen Pack greets #1 Boedy Maynard after another shut down inning.

Maynard went four and 2/3 on the hill to get the win, he allowed four hits, struck out four and walked none, Davis tossed the final two and 2/3 innings in relief and only allowed a walk.

Gray Derifield sprints toward first after laying down a great bunt.

Offensively Gray Derifield was a catalyst from his leadoff spot with three hits including a double and two beautifully placed bunts and scored two runs.

Maynard had a sacrifice fly in the first inning and then doubled home two runs in the fourth inning to give the Dawgs breathing room, Davis followed that up with his own double that scored courtesy runner CJ Whitt, Max Murriell singled and scored a run, Brady Caudill also had a nice bunt single.

Freshman Eli Caudill was a stud on defense behind Maynard and Davis.

Eli Caudill fields a bunt and fires to second base to get the Pikeville base runner.

The Dawgs will face Paintsville after the Tigers beat Belfry 12-3 in a game that started on Monday and finished Tuesday afternoon.

Lawrence Co. and Paintsville is scheduled to be played on Wednesday at 5:30 in the first semifinal game.

Johnson Central and Prestonsburg will play in the second semifinal at 8:00.

Bulldog Head Coach Travis Feltner

 COACH’S COMMENTS

“… Great W for our team, Boedy and Braxton were absolutely what you want your senior arms to be in post season. Gray was an on base machine and when he’s on we score. Boedy and Braxton had big clutch RBI doubles, Brady Caudill had a nice night at the plate too

“…We are excited to advance and ready for the semifinals.”
