KENTUCKY STATE POLICE POST 14 IN ASHLAND, KY., ANNOUNCES MASSIVE TRAFFIC SAFETY CHECKPOINTS BLITZ FOR THE COMING WEEKS IN BOYD, CARTER, GREENUP, & LAWRENCE COUNTIES

CHECKPOINT LOCATIONS CHOSEN THROUGHOUT THE FOUR COUNTY KSP POST 14 COVERAGE AREA ARE DUE TO EXPERIENCING A HIGH RATIO OF VEHICULAR CRASHES RESULTING IN INJURY AND/OR DEATH

DECEMBER 5, 2021 – written by WADE QUEEN

The Kentucky State Police, Post 14, in Ashland, KY., which provides coverage for Carter, Boyd, Lawrence and Greenup counties, will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints as approved by the Kentucky State Police Policy and Procedures Manual. These checkpoints will be conducted in an effort to enforce the traffic laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

The Kentucky State Police utilizes traffic safety checkpoints to promote safety for motorists using the public roadways and to provide a deterrent for those who violate laws contained in the Kentucky Revised Statutes.

The Kentucky State Police Post Fourteen-Ashland will be conducting safety traffic checkpoints in the Post Fourteen area. Troopers will be checking for impaired drivers, children that are not properly restrained in child safety seats, and to inform the public about the use of seatbelts.

These safety checkpoints will be conducted in various locations throughout the Post Fourteen area that are experiencing a high ratio of vehicular crashes resulting in injury and/or death compared to relatively low safety restraint usage ratio.

The complete list of traffic safety checkpoints location are announced as the following:
